Wainhouse, Lyme Regis, Dorset

At the heart of this brief was the desire to build a contemporary weekend escape where the family could come together. Built within the curtilage of a dilapidated outbuilding the site also required sensitivity to the surrounding buildings and clear boundaries and privacy from the main house.

The outcome is a series of free flowing and flexible spaces, housed within a highly insulated cedar clad and slate roofed build that is filled with evening light from the west facing clerestory windows and morning sun in the riverbed courtyard.
